Let's Brag...

I believe that once you start bragging about yourself, everything else you say will all be perceived as a brag. When this happens, people will start to turn away from you. Bragging is something that's ultimately annoying. It's annoying because the purpose of bragging is usually to get people to praise you, only it's an indirect way of doing so. Despite the cover, the effect is still the same, it's still annoying.

Praises are very fulfilling. It's like eating something sweet and juicy. There an expression saying that braggers smell their own fart. I don't  know how that's related. There are people out there who feed on praises. They need it to be happy. They need the attention. It makes them desperate. They'll brag, brag and brag until someone praises them. Usually people start to praise because they can't stand all the bragging and not because they really mean it.

It can be embarrassing when a bragger realizes that their praise "fishing" is uncovered. When that happens, they defend themselves by saying that they're simply  just sharing. Another would be by exaggerating their brag by saying it aloud like they're 'pretending' to brag when in fact they're letting people know something 'interesting' about themselves. These indications are easily detect by people who actually have brains. Who are they kidding? Everyone knows when their bragging.

However, I also believe that when you brag so much about yourself so much, it becomes the default setting in your everyday interactions. Braggers tend to brag without even realizing it. That's the saddest part. For this type of person, they'll deny bragging even if you tell them in their faces about it.

Modesty is very difficult. It's hard to keep quiet when you know that you're better that everyone else. It's really hard when nobody knows that you know something that they don't. It's hard to not tell people that you have the most awesome thing in the world. It's also hard to not show that you're the most perfect human being created by God.

Nevertheless, modesty is not impossible. A modest person in easily respected.  Develop modesty in yourselves so that you don't annoy people around you. Don't get me wrong, pretending to be modest is not modesty. You'll just end up bragging about being modest.
