Waiting..

Today is the last day of work! Wait, why am I not at work? Oh yeah, I quit yesterday!

Nah, I didn't quit. I just stopped yesterday because today is a really important day. Class registration day!

Yup, today is one of the most important days the university life. It's like moving into a house. You need to find the best location and you'll be living with the housemates for the whole sem. So you have to choose wisely and act quickly. Orange!!

Last semester may have been the best choice of group ever. I got the same group for all courses and I had the best classmates. They also stuck with the same group for every course.

I hope I get to fight side by side with the same comrades from last semester!

Returning Departure..

And now on to bigger things, Tajul and I have managed to clean the kitchen. It's not shiny, but it's good enough to sleep in.

There's a leak on the ceiling. Nothing Tajul and I can do bout that. We're still waiting for Abang Tuan Rumah to come out of his hiding place to come and fix it. He's probably hiding from the Ah Long.

But he'll show up when it's rent collecting day. Let's just hope he doesn't just come for the money.

Anyway, I have work tomorow. I really don't want to go, but who else would pay you RM35 just for sitting around and making calls to snobs in Australia right?

My dad asked me to look at a 2nd hand car the other day. A Ford Lynx 1.8 1996. Go figure. So I went. It was quite a nice car. He asked me to decide whether it's good enough. That's a biggy.

If I say yes, I might risk wasting my dad's money if it turns out to suck. On the other hand, if it's good, I'd be getting my mom a new car. That's a tough decision to make. Maybe I should take a look at it again.

I should be sleeping already since I need to wake up at 5.30am. I've just noticed that there's Subway in Malaysia. I wonder since when has it made its way here? I used to watch the advertisements in the US, but I've never stepped my foot in the place.

There's a Subway outlet at the place I work, maybe since tomorrow is like my second last day working, I should eat there.

Why am I even high-lighting these words?

I'll be going back to Kuantan on Wednesday. That's just great, people are busy coming back here, I'll be going home. Is that Duang?

The Happening..

Hello cyberspace! I have return! It has been so long since I last updated my blog. A lot seemed to have happened since then.

The results were out yesterday, boy was I relieved to have achieved higher than I ever had and maintained a 3 pointer. Good for me!

Congrats to Hafriz, he finally got DL. Really happy for you man! I was really surprised. You totally deserve it.

It seems that everyone in my house were all able to keep their heads above water. Niza redeemed himself and reclaimed his throne as a DL student. Tajul got over worrying about his Mandarin and scored above 3 as well.

Duang, well, he needed reminding to check his results, go figure, but he also mannaged to get above 3. I haven't heard from pie yet, but I'm pretty sure he did well.

Firhan's also happy bout his results. Looks like mostly everyone improved.

Now that the results have come out, every can stop worrying and get on with their lives until the semester starts.

As for me, I'm relieved. I was so worried that I wasn't able to maintain my CGPA.

So what have I been doing all this time? I've been making prank calls to Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and almost the whole of Malaysia. Not!

I have been making calls to all those places though, but not as pranks. I've been working at a call center for the International Data Corporation (IDC) Market Research company in KL. I've been conducting surveys over the phone. What an experience I tell you. I've even picked up an Australian accent.

I worked for almost a month, I have 2 more days to go next week. Firhan's also working there. We been rejected and trashed-talked by the respondents. It's not everyday you get yelled at by an Australian or a Singaporean. But there were also some very friendly mates too.

I've been calling Australia for one whole week, made over 1,000 phone calls, and I've never heard them say "G'dayy". If you apologize to them, they say "No worries!". I've gotten so used to their accent, I even got influenced and started speaking Australian English, so has Firhan. But we sound a bit funny.

That's basically all that I've done this break. Like the Australians say, Cheers!

Obsessive Passion..

Catching up with my childhood obsession.

After my previous post, I got this crazy idea of downloading my all-time favorite anime, Dragonball Z.

I'm still going through the first season. The second season is currently on the way.

It's all in English though. But it isn't that bad.

Everyone has a childhood obsession. Mine is this. There are also some obsessions that we have in the present that started during our childhood.

For me, I've been obsessed with cars since, well, forever. In fact, my childhood was based on cars, automotive design to be exact.

I've been drawing cars since, well, again, forever. But I've never got to embrace my obsession.

I guess obsession is not the best way to describe my fascination in cars. Passion is fits nicely.

But it's an obsessive passion. Is that right?

I have been a big Dragonball Z fan as far as I can remember. I love the story, the artwork and the animation. Akira Toriyama is the man!

Most Malaysians I know have watched the Anime and even collected all the Mangas, but very few know about the special movies.

The series were all directly adapted from the manga but with a few added scenes to fill up the time in each epasode. The special movies produced had nothing to do with the series or the manga. Or maybe the other way around. Meaning that whatever happens in the special movies never happened in the series or effect the series in any way. But in the movies, you'll see that some of the events from the series does effect the story or characters in the movies.

To me, Dragonball Z is the best franchise. It is the longest out of the three. (Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT)

After that last movie in 1995, I thought it would be the end of Dragonball Z. Until..

I found this!!

Ossu! Kaette Kita Son Gokû to Nakama-tachi!!

Which means "Yo! Goku and his friends return!". Not your typical come-back pitch line I know. But I'm not making it up.

This is the 14th Dragonball Z special movie which was released this year at the Jump Super Anime Tour just this September 2008. It has been 12 years since any Dragonball animated feature was released. The only new Dragonball animations were produced for the Dragonball Z games intro movies.

I've watched this new movie and to me, it's like tasting your mom's recipe after 12 years. There is a familiar scent to it. But at the same time, it's improved.

The animations and art style are the same ones you see in the games and it looks fantastic. I've always wanted the intros to last longer, and here it is. The fighting scenes have also improved, but it reminds you of the Pokemon the movies. The color makes DB look up to date with other animes today.

I've always loved the Japanese version of DBZ. It brings out the true personality of the characters. Especially Goku. Listening to his voice sure brings back a lot of memory. Funamation has yet to release any news on any future dubbing of the movie. But I predict they'll be drooling over by next year.

The story takes place 2 years after Goku and co. defeated the Evil Majin Buu. The whole world thought Satan defeated Buu, so he wanted to honor the real heroes by inviting them to a banquet he organized at his new hotel. Then appeared Vegeta's little brother who asked for help to defeat two of Frieza's former men-alien-dudes who were after him. The ending? As obvious as the previous movies.

I love everything about this movie. It gave every character a chance to reintroduce themselves to the fans. But I wish the let characters like Gohan and Vegeta show there strengths. A really funny movie. The animation's fantastic. The plot is a bit familiar only with a new colour.

Technological Stone Age..

Technology is getting cheaper by the day. Just earlier this year, during my 4th semester, I bought my 1st very own PC, a desktop PC. You know, the ones where the screen is separated from the CPU.

I cost RM2,560 more or less. It was a decent machine. It could perform really heavy.. performance and stuff. It wasn't branded. It wasn't and Acer or HP. It was a custom-made at the store in Low Yat *which way better than those badged phonies*. It was great. It still is, but.. I don't have it anymore.

My dad bought it from me for RM2,000. And with that cash, I was to buy another PC for myself. Don't get me wrong, my dad didn't rip me off.. Or did he?

So yesterday, I bought a brand new PC at Low Yat. Did my dad rip me off? Should he have paid at least RM2,300 or RM2,200? My dad gave me RM500 less than before, so would I get less features than before?

Nope. With just RM2,000, I was able to upgrade to a way more powerful PC than my old one. So did I rip-off my dad?

Nope. You see, he wanted to buy one of those nice looking Acer Desktops, which cost RM2,300 but only offered to fart. My old PC blows that Acer with it's features. So I saved my dad RM300, and he got a much better PC. And I got an upgrade.

Nothing Something..

I've just finished watching the latest episode of Heroes season 3. I'm got really tired. So now I'm watching House season 5.

Last night, I watched Get Smart and laughed through walls. Tonight, Tajul's watching it. He's laughing through blocks.

Tomorrow I'll be driving back to Kuantan. I'll be bringing lots of stuff. I better start packing. Tomorrow.

Something Nothing..

It's 2am and here I am, wide awake after watching 3 movies. Movie of the day, Get Smart. It got me laughing my head off. Kinda freaked Tajul out.

Today, it was just me and Tajul. Duang disappeared yesterday, should be in the missing persons list. Or maybe he's just staying with his relatives. Either way, nothing's changed.

Tajul and I bought a chicken. And we kept it in the freezer. I let it out just now for fun. Then I put it back in.

The kitchen ceiling is leaking. The heavy rain made it worse. The floor's covered in water which kinda makes it look like the bathroom floor, but bigger. Any chance of getting electrocuted?

Tajul has started his diet. Hmm. Who's that in the kitchen?

My room is still messy from completing the research proposal a few weeks ago. I'll clean it up tomorow. Wait. That's what I said yesterday.

155..

After going through a whole day of excruciating pain, I decided to go bowling. And I broke my own record!

My previous record was 144 points. Today, I crushed it with a 155 points. Firhan's record is 160s. I'm catching up to him.

Painful Pleasure..

I woke up one morning and I find myself in extreme pain. Gastric pain.

I can't seem to stop the pain. It has been 17 hours. 17 hours of pain.

I can't feel hunger nor full. Just pain.

I've had my shots and pills. Nothing works.

Sleep. I need to sleep to get a away from the pain.

Then again, I'll still feel pain when I wake up.

Leaving Hello..

It's that time again when everyone's leaving and you're the last one left. I'm sure I'm not the only one going through this. It's a normal event that occurs at the end of every semester. Watching housemates and friends leave Shah Alam one by one.

I remember Hafriz's post in his blog, Into The Rabbit Hole, just before raya. He stayed in Shah Alam longer than anyone else and he could still feel everyone's presence.

Hafriz, Niza, and Pie will all be leaving tomorow. That leaves me and Tajul. Oh, and Duang. Duang'll be staying for quite a while, he's involved in KARISMA, playing chess. Look's like I'll have to endure some "Duang" torture in the next couple of weeks. Just my luck!

I'm actually planning on staying in Shah Alam and work. I've never tried it before so it would be a new experience. Even though I'll still be relyng on my dad for cash, I also want to earn money with my own sweat and tears.

I've already got a thesis to translate and Firhan has recommended this typing job just today at his brother's wedding kenduri. Sounds rather interesting. I plan to try it out.

The semester break isn't that long, about a month and a half. Within that time, I'll try to earn some money.

Safe Surau..

Today, I lost my car keys. I noticed that it wasn't in my pocket just as Niza, Tajul, and I were leaving the library. As I walked towards the car, I stuck my hand in my left pocket, that's when I noticed that it wasn't there.

There were only 2 20 cents in my pocket. I couldn't remember where I put it or when I even took it out of my pocket. So I tried to recall all the places I had been before that.

The loo, the AUSMAT Cafe, the loo before that, and the Surau! So I went and checked. I expected it to be long gone. I left it on the sejadah that I used. People could've easily seen it and taken it.

When I got to the surau, I turned over the very same sejadah and it was gone. Gone. As I was was walking out, there it was, on the shelf. Someone had put it there. Thank you!

Alhamdulillah, I don't know what I would've done if it wasn't there. And to that person who put my car keys on the shelf, you must be a saint.

Home Sweet Second Home!

It's Friday and I'm finally back in Shah Alam. I left for Kuantan last Sunday because my dad needed me to send my Mom and Bro-Sises to school. My dad had some kind of workshop here in Shah Alam. It's like switching places really.

I travelled to Kuantan by car with the company of Heikal the Hand of Magic. You know he is. I've never driven back to Kuantan from Shah Alam before, so Heikal was my navigator. As soon as we we arrived safely in Kuantan, he bought a bus ticket return back to Shah Alam.

Just kidding, Heikal also lives in Kuantan and needed go back, so I dropped him off near his home. Thanks Man!

So what did I do at home? Nothing. I struggled to finnish one chapter of sociolinguistics, and that's it. Talk about spending time wisely.

So now I'm back in Shah Alam. Unfortunately, I came back empty minded.

Small Fuss..

I've had people coming up to me and ask"what's all the fuss with your creative writing class?" and "I heard you guys had to make a fanzine, what's the big deal?".

Our friends from other classes have noticed that we had a bit of a mess during the D-day date of the fanzine.

First of all, it was quite a lot of work went into the fanzine, like the articles and getting the articles approved.

Secondly, getting it to print out according to the layout was and still is not the easiest job in the world.

Third, we spent quite a lot of money on this rather small project. I don't know about other groups, but my group spent well over RM100.

Our lecturer only wanted to publish the best fanzine, but that hardly seems possible now that the final's started. But I don't want to let all our hard work to go to waste.

So here's what Hafriz(editor),Niza, Duang, Liyana and I came up with;

Bad Mint Tonne..

I just came from a badminton match and just had my shower. Today, I played against Man and Zul of part two from 9.30am until 11.00am. And we were later joined by Heikal, Syuk, and um.. That other guy who usually hangs out with Syuk. The one who usually has short hair. Nevermind, sorry man, I forgot your name. I'm sure it's lovely.

The longest I've played badminton was from 8.00am to 1.30pm. That was like two weeks ago. Last today we only played untill 12.45pm.

I played until my badminton strings snapped. Which is not cool because I just changed the strings a few weeks ago and I don't have an extra light racket. Maybe I should buy another one.

I keep scores today, but I lost to Man twice and beat him once. And Man and I beat Syuk and what's-his-name and later we beat Heikal and what's-his-name.

Heikal is quite good. Too bad he has a loose knee. He has to hold back a bit. Or else he'd be better than me even. What's-his-name is really good. He and Syuk made us underestimate then at first. And fooled we were. They're awsome.

Free Captive..

It's all finally over! Yes! Free from all that have been suffocating my lungs. The air is clear and fresh. I can do as I please without checking at the clock every few second to like it's going to blow up if I don't.

Freedom. I'm going to cherish every moment of it now... By reading sociolinguistics! HEHE..

Deepavali Is Happier..

Even though it's Deepavali today, the people celebrating it aren't causing anyone any trouble. They're more decent.

The Malay community decided to extend their celebration of Roadblock Day. Yesterday I was blocked from coming home to my flat. Today, I couldn't even get out. They've blocked all possible escapes routs there are within this housing area.

I don't know what else to say except, if you decide to have your kenduri in the middle of a major artery, the least you could do is send us a card. If not an invitation card, at least a warning card so we could move our cars out before you people start eating your nasi minyak and can't leave your plates even for a second to move your cars for those uninvited guests who has better places to be.

Long Shortcut..

Kenduri here, kenduri there. It's must be kenduri season. Not that I have anything againts kenduris, especially kenduri kahwin, but today, it's like the national roadblock day.

Let me break it down for ya'll, There are two main roads that lead to my flat. The one in front of the flat and the other one behind that leads to the parking lot.

Today, both roads are closed. If I come from sek18 and come in from the junction just before the shell junction, I'd go pass Kak Aisyah's flat and and come in from the behind to the parking lot. But they've block the junction with cones. The pengantins must be traffic cops.

The junction right in front of the 7E is also blocked. These people must know I desperately needed to go to the loo.

So what I did was I went through the housing areas, and 6 turns later, I got home. Fiuh...

Other than that, it was a nice Roadblock Day.

Calm Storm..

The storm has arrived. It feels like I've been walking through a storm that I knew as eventually coming, but I still didn't bring along an umbrella.

For some, the storm has already passed. I'm still in the middle of it. I'm still looking for cover. The longer I take to find an shelter, the wetter I get.

I still don't see the end of the storm. All I know is, I better get through this storm before a bigger one arrives. When it does, it'll flood everywhere. There's no longer any use looking for cover.

The Mini and Beetle Heritage..

Last week or so, Acad of Ethos! had requested I write a review on the Mini Cooper and the VW Beetle. I was thinking of writing about the whole history of these two models, but that would occupy so much of my time. Like that would stop me! *HEHE..* I love writing about cars no matter how time consuming it might be.

I'm sure everyone knows these two cars, the Mini and the Beetle. They were popularized by the media so much that they have names for them. Remember Herbie from the Disney tv series The Love Bug? Most of you would. Disney has even made a new movie about Herbie starring Lindsay Lohan. *Refer to picture below.. Might ring bell.. Makes very noisy sounds in head..*

This barely covers the beetle history. There's just way too much to scoop up, I just chose the exciting parts of its history.

Now on to the Mini. I sure everyone would picture the same wacky, loony, and hilarious face with a mold when a green Mini is mentioned. Yes, one of the most popular Minis on TV is Mr. Bean's Green Mini Cooper with a black colored hood and uses a padlock. It's such an important car, they even made it in the cartoon.

This isn't at all insightful. But at least you know how the originals look. For the next post, I'll review the new Mini and Bee'l in much more detail.

"Open" House At Aimi's...

Last night, my housemates at I got hungry. So we decided to got to Aimi's place for dinner *Suke hati kitorg je..* . Everyone went except for Tajul *who has started his diet again..*. Ekwan came along and decided to fry some kuih cucur udang without udang in Aimi's kitchen. Hafriz, Niza, Duang and myself attacked the ayam masak lemak cili api in the kitchen. Then we slept in Aimi's living and dining room like it was our own house. *HEHE.. Aint that the truth?..*

Telstar Update..

(10th of October)

Here's an update on my little experiment. From almost half a tank on Monday, 6th of Oct, it decreased to less that a quarter of the tank on Friday, 10th of Oct.

That Friday night, it became almost empty. So I filled the tank with RM20 of fuel. The meter got back up just above that quarter line.

So folks, from this little sick experiment, I can conclude that RM50 could last up to 5 days in a 2.0l V6 car. HOWEVER, with the exception that you use as less air-cond as possible and keep the car at low revs AND stay within the area of Klang Valley.

This experiment will continue to be conducted throughout the following weeks until I return it to my brother.

Living With A 2.0L V6 Car..

My younger brother has lend me his car since I had no transportation to return to Shah Alam to Melaka. I was excited about driving the around Shah Alam but I was also worried.

I was worried about the power house under the hood of the car. Yes, bigger engines do mean a smoother and faster ride, but what about fuel? A 2.0L engine car doesn't really strike me as the most suitable car for a student like myself. Especially when it's a V6.

So I've decided to take this chance to conduct a small experiment to see how long it takes to finnish HALF a tank of the cars fuel in other words or how long can half a tank of the 2.0l V6 Ford Telstar last.

Of course there are some "variables" I need to consider like the way I drive. If I drive around like the speed demon I usually do, that would definitely contribute to a faster rate of fuel depletion. Not only that, I also need to consider the frequency of driving or how often I do I use the car.

Let's change the title of this experiment then, How Long It Takes For ME To Finish Half A tank of fuel of The 2.0l V6 Ford Telstar.

The count starts from the time I arrived here in Shah Alam, which was Sunday night. So far, I've gone through 2 whole days, and I still have a quarter of fuel left.

I'm not really sure about the size of the fuel tank. I'll figure that out later. Then I should know how much half a tank of fuel is worth.

Proton's MPV..

Not long ago, Proton announced that they were making a family MPV. However, they haven't a name for it yet. Like the new Proton Saga, Proton is holding a contest in naming the MPV as well.

According to Motor Trader, they have received 251 thousand entries already. The winner will get the MPV for free and some thousands of ringgit and gets to visit Lotus in the UK. But the contest has been closed. *Sorry guys, too late..*

Injured On Duty..

Some of you may still remember, last semester, I borrowed my grandpa's 1996 Ford Laser 1.5. It was a really nice car. I had a classic look to it.

Recently my grandpa had an accident while driving that car. *it wasn't his fault.. it happened a week before Ramadhan..* He's OK though. He wasn't injured in anyway.

But the car suffered quite a lot of damage.

It's been like this for almost a month. But the mechanic said it might be all fixed up in 2 to 3 weeks.

This car really means a lot to me. I love the way it looked and the way it drives. I really hope it can be back exactly to the way it was before the crash.

1st Day OF Eidul Fitri...

My family celebrated the first day of Raya at my mom's kampung; Kampung Seri Asahan, Gemencheh, Negeri 9. There's not much to say, I'm still celebrating raya!
